The Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) at Hillbourne Primary School is Ms Emma Camilleri.
At Hillbourne Primary School, we embrace the fact that every child is different, and therefore, the educational needs of every child are different; as is the case for children with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities.
The four broad ‘areas of need’ are defined as: Cognition and Learning, Communication and Interaction, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties and Sensory and Physical Needs.
Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are sometimes identified before they start school, others are identified by assessments carried out by school staff and/or external professionals before being placed on the school’s SEND Register. Support from other agencies will be requested if required. Children can be on the SEND register for a short while whilst they receive some intervention or throughout their schooling, this depends on their level of need. Parents will be kept informed and consulted regarding any decisions relating to children with SEND by their child’s class teacher and/or SENCo.
Appointments to see Ms Camilleri can be made in person, by phone or via the school office.
